Dave is a Certified Public Accountant, Personal Financial Specialist and Senior Wealth Advisor with more than 30 years of experience in the financial services industry. Dave has a diversified career that allows him to serve his current clients in the most impactful way possible. During his time with the New York City Comptroller's Office his responsibilities included the accounting and financial reporting of the City’s multibillion dollar pension portfolio. In 1990, Dave was promoted to Deputy Chief Accountant of New York City.
In 1996 Dave realized his goal of managing his own CPA practice. Aware that no advisor understood clients’ fiscal goals and dreams better than their CPA, Dave added financial services to his practice in 1999.
With a growing CPA and financial services practice, Dave and his wife, Liz, merged their businesses in 2004 offering a full range of financial services through Scafa Financial Services, LLC.
In September 2025 Scafa Financial Services LLC partnered with and rebranded as TruPlan Financial Advisors. The experience and knowledge of the TruPlan Financial Advisors team will provide clients with a holistic financial planning process.
Dave is a graduate of Baruch College of the City University of New York. He is insurance licensed in life, accident and health, variable annuities, and variable life, holds the Series 7 and 63 securities licenses, and is an investment advisor representative.
Dave is a member of the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. Dave and Liz live in central New Jersey. They are the proud parents of Stephanie, who resides in Bologna, Italy, and Christine, who resides in Jersey City, NJ.
